As Gmail continues to gain popularity, it only makes sense to unlock all its potential. Although you may be a computer whiz and think you know Gmail’s ins and outs, there may be some features lurking beneath the surface you never learned about. Read on to see if one of these Gmail tips can make your life just a little smoother:
Copy and Paste Your Images
Did you know you can entirely bypass the Insert Photo button when you need to attach a picture to the body of an email? All you have to do is right-click on the image you want to include, select Copy, and right-click inside your email and select Paste. It is no different than when you copy and paste text, and you eliminate the need to use up bandwidth by downloading photos to your computer then uploading them into your Gmail.
Un-Sending an Email Is Not Fiction
If you have composed an email in a heated moment or noticed a grave spelling error at the precise moment you’ve hit the Send button, you are not doomed to appear overly emotional or uneducated. Gmail gives you a brief period of time that you can un-send your message and save face. This takes a bit of forethought, however. Change your settings by clicking on the gear icon at the top-right corner, select Settings, and click on Labs. Enable “Undo Send” and select the amount of time you want Gmail to wait before actually sending your messages. So, next time you want to take back a message, you have a few moments to cancel its departure into cyberspace.
Use Multiple Email Addresses
With Gmail, your account doesn’t limit you to just using email@example.com, for instance. You get all sorts of variations from firstname.lastname@example.org to email@example.com and countless others in-between. While this may not seem life-changing at first, just think of all the applications for using these different emails with filters, sending one address to an auto reply or marking another as automatically important.
